The upper half of this New Year's surimono carries six poems by: Tossha Ittai, Joseian Isshu - poem about the uguisu (bush warbler), Senshutei Chikuga (i.e Taskemasa), Shurinsha Roji, Korotei or: Koryotei Yutome - poem about kazen no yanagi ('willows in the wind'), Asakusaan (i.e Sensoan: Atarashiki koyomi hirakeba ume ga e mo ottsukatsu iro misun hatsu hana ('With the beginning of the new calendar (-year) the blossoms on the twigs of the plum trees start to color almost at the same time')
