The series, "Dai Nippon meishô kagami" depicts portraits of famous warriors of Japan.
The print depicts Udaishô Minamoto no Yoritomo (1147-99) releasing cranes (a pious Buddhist practice) on the sea shore. Yoritomo destroyed the Taira and was the first Kamakura shogun.
