HIRATSUKA is print no. 9 in the series of fifty-five chuban-sized prints. To distinguish this series from the other chuban-sized
Tokaido, the so-called kyoka Tokaido series of c. 1840, it is widely known as the Tsuta-ya Tokaido series, named after
the renowned publisher. - This view is similar to that in the first Tokaido series of 1834: a rough shelter and resting travellers.
