KOTO was a disciple of Ogata GEKKO (1859-1920). Apart from this work, another triptych from the Sino-Japanese
war (Chaikin no. 55, op.cit.) and a double triptych depicting a panoramic view of the victory of Port Arthur in the
Russo-Japanese war, published in 1904, are known. Suggested reading: - Nathan Chaikin, "The Sino-Japanese War (1894-95)"; privately printed, 1983. - E. de Sabato Swinton, "In Battle's Light"; Worcester Art Museum, Massachusetts; 1991. |
