KOTO was a disciple of Ogata GEKKO (1859-1920). Apart from this work, another triptych from the Sino-Japanese war (Chaikin no. 55, op.cit.) and a double triptych depicting a panoramic view of the victory of Port Arthur in the Russo-Japanese war, published in 1904, are known.
